Web Copy
What is Web Copy?
Web copy is the core text that is displayed on a website for visitors to read and that tells them what they need to know about a brand or product. Website copy is on your home page, the about page, including product and service pages. Web copywriting, also called “writing for the web,” is the process of writing online content such as ad copy, landing pages, and other forms of digital content that is meant to be published on a website. Well-crafted copywriting can keep readers engaged and can persuade them to take some form of action, such as making a purchase or submitting a form.
For Clients & Businesses
The purpose of web copy is to write content in-line with the client's brand or company. Every single line of copy on a website helps visitors learn more about the services or products a business is advertising. When a potential customer visits a website, they want to know what you are all about.
My Copywriting Process
Identifying the Target Audience
An important part of writing copy for the web is identifying the client's target audience. A website is usually designed to generate clicks and leads from a certain audience that may be interested in the client's products or services. Once the target audience has been identified, writing is custom-tailored to potential customers.
Drafting and Outline
During the drafting stage, I identify the client's needs and outline the H1 tag and multiple H2 tags that will serve as headings for the structure of the web copy. Outlining involves researching the client's competitors and finding other reputable sources online to craft the perfect piece.
Revising and Editing
The editing process begins after the client or content manager reviews the web copy and the appropriate changes are made.
Publishing
All approved web copy is then published on the client's website on their respective pages.
